This explains what BizSpouse collects, why we collect it, who can see it, and how to have it removed. We keep the collection small on purpose, because a research and setup tool does not need your life story to be useful.
Who we are
BizSpouse is an independent business run by Dominic Kramer. You can reach us any time at dom@mybizspouse.com.
What we collect
- Answers you give us. The questions you answer about your business, the steps you mark as done, and the tools you tell us you already use. Without an account this is held in your own browser and tied to a random visit identifier. With an account it is stored against your account so it follows you between devices.
- Account information. If you create an account, your email address, and if you sign in with Google, the basic profile information Google returns. We never see or store your Google password.
- Usage information. Pages viewed, buttons used, whether you were on a phone or a desktop, the site that referred you, and any campaign tags in the web address. This is tied to a random visit identifier, not to your name.
- Outbound clicks. When you click through to a tool provider we record which link, from which page, and at what time, so we can tell which recommendations actually help and so partners can credit a referral.
We do not ask for and do not want sensitive information such as government identification numbers, bank details, health information, or the contents of your customer records. Please do not paste that kind of information into the site.
Why we collect it
- To work out which step you should do next and which tools fit the business you described.
- To remember your progress so you do not have to start over.
- To understand which guidance is useful and which is not, so we can improve it.
- To receive credit for referrals, which is how the site is funded.
- To keep the site secure and to prevent abuse.
Who it is shared with
We do not sell your information and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising. It is handled by a small number of service providers who run the site for us: our hosting and database provider, our authentication provider, and, when you click a partner link, the tool provider and their affiliate network, who receive the fact that a referral came from us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or if the business is ever sold or transferred, in which case this policy travels with it.
Cookies and similar technology
We use browser storage rather than advertising cookies. The details, including what each item is for, are on the Cookies and Tracking page.
How long we keep it
Account information is kept while your account exists. Visit records and usage information are kept while they are useful for improving the guidance, and are held in aggregate or anonymous form after that. Ask us to delete your information and we will remove what is tied to you.
Your choices and rights
You can use most of BizSpouse without an account. You can clear the information held in your browser by clearing site data for this site. You can email us to ask what we hold, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, or to receive a copy of it.
If you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Washington or another state with a consumer privacy law, you have the right to know what is collected, to have it deleted, to correct it, to receive a portable copy, and not to be treated differently for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross context behavioural advertising. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, our lawful bases are your consent, our legitimate interest in running and improving the site, and where relevant the performance of a contract with you.
To exercise any of this, email dom@mybizspouse.com. We will respond within forty five days.
Children
BizSpouse is for people running or starting a business and is not intended for anyone under sixteen. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Security
Access to stored information is restricted at the database level, administrative tools require signing in, and traffic to the site is encrypted. No system is perfect, so please tell us straight away if you think something is wrong.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be called out on the site.
